

Forum meeting 25 January 2006
The twelfth meeting of the Minister’s Local Government Forum was held on 25 January at the City of Tea Tree Gully. The Minister for Infrastructure, the Hon Pat Conlon MP addressed Forum members on the issue of Stormwater Management and Flood Mitigation, referring to the draft Agreement between the State of South Australia and the Local Government Association on Stormwater Management.
Mr Chris Lease, LGA, spoke briefly on the item of regional and rural landfills, providing information on the progress of the joint State/Local Government project, which is being undertaken to audit selected rural landfill facilities.
Mr Jeff Tryens, Executive Director Community Connections Unit, DPC, addressed the Forum on the proposed reporting and consultation process on South Australia’s Strategic Plan and Mr Bill Cossey attended the Forum to discuss the finalisation of the Local Government Association’s Financial Sustainability Inquiry.
Other topics on the Forum agenda included the Strategic Infrastructure Plan for South Australia, Regional Passenger Transport, Country Taxis, Septic Tank Effluent Disposal Schemes and Financial Guarantees.
