Forum meeting 15.08.04

The third meeting of the Minister's Local Government Forum for 2004 was hosted by the District Council of Loxton Waikerie, at the Waikerie Council Chambers. This was the first meeting of the Forum to be held in a regional area and to coincide with a Community Cabinet.

The main topic for discussion was Stormwater Management and Flood Mitigation, including presentations by the CEO of the City of Charles Sturt, Mr Peter Lockett who presented results of the KBR report into stormwater management, LGA President, Cr John Legoe, CEO of DTUP Mr Tim O'Loughlin (on behalf of the Urban Stormwater Initiative (USI) Group) and the Chief Coordinator of the USI Initiative, Mr Nicholas Newland.

Other topics on the Forum agenda for the August meeting included arrangements for the State Strategic Plan workshop, legislative proposals and the draft consultation framework and compliance functions. It was decided that the main topic for discussion at the next meeting of the Forum be Septic Tank Effluent Disposal Schemes.
