Forum meeting 02.06.04
The second Forum meeting for 2004 was held on 2 June at Local Government House.
There was significant discussion on stormwater management and flood mitigation, with the results of a major study of stormwater infrstructure to be presented to the next meeting of the Forum. The Minister for Infrastructure, the Hon Patrick Conlon MP also attended the meeting to discuss the State Infrastructure Plan and other infrastructure issues of interest to Local Government.
The Forum also endorsed a number of projects to be undertaken on the assesment of public land, possible sharing of compliance functions between State and Local Government, economic development and the State Strategic Plan. Short updates on housing, development planning, natural resources management and the report Rates and Taxes : A Fair Share for Responsible Local Government were also provided to members.
